FAQs

What should I wear?

Clothes:

Any comfortable casual clothes are fine. Sessions are often held outside (although we do have an indoor barn if it is really wet or cold) and will go ahead even if it is raining, so a coat is often a good idea.

A jumper is often useful even on sunny days (you can always take it off if you don't need it).

If it is sunny we recommend sun hats, sun glasses and sunscreen. We do have sunscreen available, so please ask if you need it!

Footwear:

It is important to wear good footwear to protect your toes.  Horses' feet are hard and they are heavy if they accidentally tread on your toes.  You will not be allowed in with the horses with open-toed footwear (we do have a few spare pairs of Wellies. Just let us know and check we have your size when you book a session).

Is there a toilet?

Yes we have a toilet available at all times

What happens if i'm thirsty?

We have both hot and cold drinks available free of charge for our visitors. Our hot chocolate is legendary and there are normally at least 3 different flavours of it!

I am scared of horses, can I still attend?

Yes! We specialise in helping people overcome their fears with horses and will work at a pace to suit you.  As NLP Master Practitioners, both Jo and Fran will be able to assist you in overcoming a phobia of horses (either before or during the session) if this is getting in the way of you learning and enjoyment.

What will happen in an Equine Learning Session?

We will welcome you to the Stables where you will meet the horses and if you are happy to do so we will play some games with them.  These games will be fun and help you learn about yourself and the other members of your family.  We will check in with you often and move at your pace.

What happens if it's raining?

We are fortunate to have an indoor barn and field shelter so our sessions can take place no matter what the weather throws at us!

How much does it cost?

Costs vary depending on the service chosen. Please talk to us directly about this. There is often sponsorship available if cost is likely to be barrier to you attending the session.  One of our values is that what we do is available to anyone who needs it.

How do I go about getting a referral?

Talk to your careers tutor at school, or Social Worker/Care Manager They may not have heard of the FETH Course. We can always send them information and answer any questions they may have.
